52 Kg of Gold and Rs 9.86 Crore in Cash Found in Abandoned SUV Near Bhopal, Linked to Ongoing Raids
The Income Tax (I-T) Department recovered a staggering 52 kilograms of gold and Rs 9.86 crore in cash from an abandoned Toyota Innova Crysta in a forested area near Bhopal on Friday (December 20). The discovery followed a tip-off from an anonymous caller to the Bhopal police, as reported by The Indian Express.
Discovery of the SUV
A senior police officer from the Ratibad police station stated that they received information about an unclaimed Toyota Innova Crysta parked for a long time in a forested area, with several bags visible inside the vehicle. Upon inspection, the police found the vehicle locked, with 7-8 bags visible from the outside. Suspecting foul play, authorities alerted the I-T Department, believing the vehicle might be connected to ongoing raids where properties had been abandoned by those under investigation.
Massive Haul Uncovered
Upon the I-T Department’s arrival, a formal inspection was conducted. “The bags were opened, revealing gold bricks amounting to a total of 52 kg, along with Rs 9.86 crore in cash,” the officer said. The origin of the vehicle and the source of these valuables are now under investigation.
Links to Ongoing Raids
The police have identified the vehicle’s driver, while the I-T Department is working to trace the source of the cash and gold. Authorities suspect that the seizure may be linked to ongoing multi-agency raids targeting real estate businesses. The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Lokayukta, and I-T Department have been conducting a series of high-profile operations in the area.
Adding to the mystery, the Lokayukta had recently seized Rs 1 crore in cash and 40 kg of silver during a raid on the residence of Saurabh Sharma, a former constable with the Regional Transport Office, just a day before the abandoned SUV was discovered.

आयकर विभाग ने जांच शुरू की और बैग खोलने पर उनमें सोने की ईंटें और 9.86 करोड़ रुपये नकद मिले, जो कुल मिलाकर 52 किलोग्राम सोने के बराबर थे।अब इस गाड़ी और इन कीमती चीजों के बारे में जांच की जा रही है।

पुलिस ने गाड़ी के ड्राइवर की पहचान कर ली है, जबकि आयकर विभाग सोने और नकद की सोर्स का पता लगा रहा है। अधिकारियों का मानना है कि यह बरामदगी हाल ही में चल रही रियल एस्टेट कारोबारियों पर हो रही छापेमारी से जुड़ी हो सकती है। प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ED), लोकायुक्त और आयकर विभाग इस क्षेत्र में कई बड़े ऑपरेशन चला रहे हैं।
