Earlier this month, the BCCI made it clear to the ICC that it will not send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy and prefers the matches to be held in a third country.
पाकिस्तान क्रिकेट बोर्ड (PCB) के चेयरमैन मोहमद मोहसिन नकवी ने सोमवार को कहा कि वह अभी भी भारतीय क्रिकेट कंट्रोल बोर्ड (BCCI) द्वारा पाकिस्तान में 2025 चैंपियंस ट्रॉफी खेलने से इनकार करने पर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट काउंसिल (ICC) से प्रतिक्रिया का इंतजार कर रहे हैं। इस महीने की शुरुआत में, बीसीसीआई ने आईसीसी को स्पष्ट रूप से सूचित किया था कि वह भारतीय टीम को पाकिस्तान नहीं भेजेगा और चाहता है कि मैच किसी तीसरे देश में खेले जाएं। पीसीबी ने हाइब्रिड मॉडल को खारिज कर दिया है और आईसीसी से यह स्पष्टता मांगी है कि भारत पाकिस्तान यात्रा क्यों नहीं करना चाहता।
भारत ने 2008 के मुंबई आतंकवादी हमलों के बाद से पाकिस्तान में कोई मैच नहीं खेला है। यह आईसीसी इवेंट फरवरी-मार्च 2025 में निर्धारित है।
नकवी ने कहा, “अगर भारत को पाकिस्तान में अपनी टीम भेजने को लेकर कोई चिंता है, तो उन्हें हमसे बात करनी चाहिए, हम उन समस्याओं को हल करेंगे। मुझे नहीं लगता कि भारत के लिए चैंपियंस ट्रॉफी के लिए पाकिस्तान आने में कोई कारण है।”
मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स के अनुसार, नकवी ने यह भी कहा कि पीसीबी हाइब्रिड मॉडल को स्वीकार नहीं करेगा, जिसे बीसीसीआई ने प्रस्तावित किया है। “पाकिस्तान की प्रतिष्ठा और सम्मान हमारी प्राथमिकता है। चैंपियंस ट्रॉफी हमारे देश में ही होगी। हम हाइब्रिड मॉडल को स्वीकार नहीं करेंगे। अगर भारत को कोई समस्या है, तो वे हमारे पास आ सकते हैं, और हम इसे सुलझा लेंगे,” नकवी ने लाहौर के गद्दाफी स्टेडियम के बाहर मीडिया से बातचीत करते हुए कहा।
उन्होंने यह भी कहा, “हम अपने रुख पर दृढ़ हैं। हम हाइब्रिड मॉडल को नहीं अपनाएंगे। हम आईसीसी से जल्द से जल्द शेड्यूल की घोषणा का इंतजार कर रहे हैं।”
नकवी, जो कि पाकिस्तान के संघीय गृह मंत्री भी हैं, ने पुष्टि की कि पीसीबी ने बीसीसीआई के फैसले पर आईसीसी को एक पत्र भेजा है। “हम सीधे आईसीसी से संपर्क में हैं और हम उनकी प्रतिक्रिया का इंतजार कर रहे हैं ताकि हम आगे की योजना बना सकें,” उन्होंने कहा।
जब उनसे पूछा गया कि क्या जयं शाह के 1 दिसंबर को आईसीसी अध्यक्ष बनने के बाद यह मामला और जटिल हो सकता है, तो नकवी ने जवाब दिया, “ऐसा नहीं होता है, हर बोर्ड स्वतंत्र है और उसकी अपनी राय है। मुझे लगता है कि आईसीसी को अपनी विश्वसनीयता के बारे में भी सोचना चाहिए क्योंकि यह सभी क्रिकेट बोर्डों का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है।”
नकवी ने मुजफ्फराबाद, जो पाकिस्तान के कब्जे वाले कश्मीर में स्थित है, को चैंपियंस ट्रॉफी टूर से हटाने और हाइब्रिड मॉडल को लेकर पूछे गए सवालों से बचते हुए कहा, “मैं यहां निर्माण कार्य की प्रगति पर बात करने आया हूं और हम अभी भी आईसीसी से प्रतिक्रिया का इंतजार कर रहे हैं, क्योंकि उन्हें शेड्यूल की घोषणा करनी है।” उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि चैंपियंस ट्रॉफी के लिए निर्माण कार्य समय सीमा से पहले पूरा हो रहा है और लाहौर, कराची और रावलपिंडी के तीनों स्टेडियमों में काम जल्दी समाप्त हो रहा है।
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said on Monday that he is still awaiting a response from the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the BCCI’s refusal to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Earlier this month, the BCCI informed the ICC that it would not send the Indian team to Pakistan and preferred the matches to be held in a third country. The PCB has rejected the hybrid model and is seeking clarification from the ICC on why India is unwilling to travel to Pakistan.
India has not played in Pakistan since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. The ICC event is scheduled for February-March 2025.
Naqvi stated, “If India has any concerns about sending their team to Pakistan, they must talk to us, and we will address them. I don’t think there is any reason for India not to come to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.”
According to reports, Naqvi also emphasized that the PCB would not accept the hybrid model, which the BCCI has proposed. “Pakistan’s pride and respect are our top priority. The Champions Trophy will be held in our country only. We will not accept the hybrid model. If India has any issues, they can come to us, and we will sort them out,” Naqvi said during a media interaction outside Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
He reiterated, “We are firm in our stance. We will not go for a hybrid model. We are waiting for the ICC to announce the schedule as soon as possible.”
Naqvi, who also serves as the federal interior minister, confirmed that the PCB had sent a letter to the ICC regarding the BCCI’s decision. “We are directly in contact with the ICC and are still waiting for their response so we can move forward,” he said.
When asked if the situation would become more complicated after Jay Shah takes over as ICC Chairman on December 1, Naqvi responded, “Things don’t work that way. Every board is independent and has its own voice. The ICC must also consider its credibility as it represents all cricket boards globally.”
Naqvi avoided questions regarding Muzaffarabad, located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, being removed from the Champions Trophy tour and whether Pakistan would accept the hybrid model. The BCCI had raised strong objections to the ‘Trophy Tour’ being held in the PoK region.
“We are here to discuss the progress of construction work, and we are still waiting for the ICC to respond to us, as they need to announce the schedule,” Naqvi added. He also noted that renovation work for the Champions Trophy is progressing on schedule, with construction ahead of deadlines at the three venues in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.
