Arjun Tendulkar, who recently joined Mumbai Indians (MI) for INR 30 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega-auction, has faced a major setback in his cricket career after being dropped from the Goa cricket team for the remaining matches of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. The all-rounder, son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, struggled to make an impact in the domestic T20 tournament, leading to his omission from the squad.

Struggles in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Arjun’s performance in the tournament was below expectations. In a match against Mumbai, he conceded 48 runs in his four overs and managed to score just 9 runs. In another match against Services, he bowled a three-over spell, giving away 19 runs without getting a chance to bat, as Goa lost by 22 runs while chasing a target of 188. Later, against Andhra Pradesh, he leaked 36 runs in 3.4 overs, as Andhra chased down the target of 155 in just 15.4 overs.

With these disappointing performances, Arjun was excluded from the 15-member squad for Goa’s upcoming matches against Kerala and Maharashtra. Goa, having lost all four of their matches so far, is currently placed sixth in the Group E points table.

Arjun Tendulkar’s Domestic Career

Arjun Tendulkar had joined Goa before the 2022/23 domestic season, leaving Mumbai to seek more playing opportunities. His domestic career began promisingly with a century in his debut match for Goa against Rajasthan. Over the course of 17 first-class matches, he has scored 532 runs and taken 37 wickets. In List A cricket, he has accumulated 62 runs and claimed 21 wickets in 15 matches. Arjun has also featured in 24 T20 matches, scoring 119 runs and taking 27 wickets.
