Netanyahu Rejects ICC Arrest Warrant, Vows to Defend Israel
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has firmly rejected the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) over his role in the Gaza conflict, vowing that it would not stop Israel from defending itself. In a video statement, Netanyahu declared, “No outrageous anti-Israel decision will prevent us – and it will not prevent me – from continuing to defend our country in every way. We will not yield to pressure.” He, along with former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, faces charges of “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity” in connection with Israeli military actions in Gaza.
Netanyahu criticized the ICC, calling it “an enemy of humanity” and dismissing the charges as “utterly baseless.” He further argued that the court was ignoring the real war crimes being committed against Israel and others around the world. Along with Netanyahu and Gallant, the ICC also issued an arrest warrant for Mohammed Deif, the leader of Hamas’ military wing. Israel had previously reported that Deif was killed in an airstrike last year, although Hamas has not confirmed his death.
